| On August 1st, Colorado will begin enforcing Senate Bill 25-003 — a radical new law that requires government permission to purchase a common semi-automatic firearm. This isn’t about background checks. This is about control. Here’s what it will soon take to exercise your Second Amendment rights in Colorado: Schedule an appointment with your sheriff. Undergo a background check and get discretionary approval just to be allowed to take a class. Pay a fee to be added to a database of people “interested” in purchasing a gun. Then — and only then — you can pay again to take a 12-hour, government-mandated course over two days. Pass a written test. Score 90%. Finally, pay a new 6.5% excise tax on your firearm purchase, courtesy of Prop KK. This is a state-controlled permitting system designed to chill gun ownership, register law-abiding citizens, and centralize force in the hands of government. It creates an effective monopoly on force — and it sets the stage for even worse abuses of power. And Colorado’s Attorney General will have direct access to the database of gun owner identities. That is Jena Griswold, the same Secretary of State whose office leaked voter data across the web last year. The kicker is, as of today the system is NOT in place for you to get the permit |
